The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
