۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel. 59 Had We willed, We would have appointed angels among you to be successors in the earth. 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me. 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Await they aught save the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they know not? 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
