Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
