The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
