The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
