In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. 1 storming tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Indeed what you are promised, will surely befall. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 So shall We make the later ones to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 "Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame." 31 it throws spits as (high as a huge) palace, 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
