AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 until the day of a known time." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
