And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 (Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us. 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
