The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ O Prophet, have fear of God and do not yield to those who deny the truth and the hypocrites. God is all-knowing and all-wise. 1 And keep following what is sent down to you from your Lord; O people! Indeed Allah is seeing your deeds. 2 And trust Allah; and Allah is Sufficient as a Trustee. 3 God has not provided two hearts in the breast of a man, nor made your wives, whom you pronounce "mothers" (in order to divorce them), your real mothers, nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. This is only what your lips pronounce. God says what is just, and shows the right way. 4 Call them after their true fathers; that is more equitable in the sight of God. If you know not who their fathers were, then they are your brothers in religion, and your clients. There is no fault in you if you make mistakes, but only in what your hearts premeditate. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. 5 The Prophet has a higher claim on the believers than [they have on] their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. Blood relatives are closer to one another in God's Book than are believers and the Emigrants except that you want to show your friends a kindness. That is decreed in the Book. 6 When We made the covenant with the prophets, and with you, as with Noah and Abraham, Moses and Jesus son of Mary, a binding covenant, 7 So that He may question the truthful regarding their truth; and He has kept prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers. 8
