The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter - 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, "This is a tough day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign - so is there one who would ponder? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
