The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
