The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
