The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
