The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
