The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
