The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
