The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
