The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
