۞ It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he had sexual relation with her, she became pregnant and she carried it about lightly. Then when it became heavy, they both invoked Allah, their Lord (saying): "If You give us a Salih (good in every aspect) child, we shall indeed be among the grateful." 189 And yet, as soon as He has granted them sound [offspring,] they begin to ascribe to other powers beside Him a share in bringing about what He has granted them! Sublimely exalted, however, is God - above anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 190 Do they indeed ascribe to Him as partners things that can create nothing, but are themselves created? 191 And cannot provide any help to them, nor do they help themselves? 192 Believers, even if you invite them to true guidance, they will not follow you. It makes no difference whether you invite them or whether you keep quiet. 193 Those on whom you call apart from God, are servants the likes of you; call them and let them answer you, if you speak truly. 194 Have they feet with which they walk, or have they hands with which they hold, or have they eyes with which they see, or have they ears with which they hear? Say: Call your associates, then make a struggle (to prevail) against me and give me no respite. 195 My Protector is God who sent down the Book, and He takes into His protection the righteous. 196 whereas all those whom you invoke in His stead are neither able to give you succour nor can succour themselves; 197 And if ye (Muslims) call them to the guidance they hear not; and thou (Muhammad) seest them looking toward thee, but they see not. 198 Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don't punish them). 199 When satan provokes you seek refuge in Allah; He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 200 Indeed, when a visitation of satan touches the cautious (worshipers) they remember, and then see clearly. 201 and their brothers they lead on into error, then they stop not short. 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 When the Koran is recited, listen to it in silence in order that Allah has mercy upon you. 204 Remember your Lord deep within yourselves, humbly and privately - instead of shouting out loud - (in prayer) in the mornings and evenings and do not be of the heedless ones. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
