۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?" 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
