And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 no caring friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
