Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
