A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
