A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 "We are ruined, 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
