The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
