The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
