And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord!
