The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
