The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
