Mary (Maryam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Kaf. Ha. Ya. 'Ain. Sad. 1 The mention of thy Lord's mercy unto His servant Zachariah; 2 When he softly prayed to his Lord. 3 Praying: "O my Lord! infirm indeed are my bones, and the hair of my head doth glisten with grey: but never am I unblest, O my Lord, in my prayer to Thee! 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 one that might be my heir and the heir of the house of Jacob; and make him, Lord, one that will be pleasing to You. 6 [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." 7 He submitted, “My Lord – how can I have a son whereas my wife is barren and I have reached infirmity due to old age?” 8 He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught. 9 He said, "My Lord, grant me a sign!" He said, "Your sign will be that you will not speak to anyone for three successive days and nights, although sound in body." 10 So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon. 11 'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child, 12 And compassion from Ourselves, and chastity; and he was extremely pious. 13 and dutiful towards his parents and was not haughty or disobedient. 14 He was born and died in peace and will be brought back to life again in peace. 15
