And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
