The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
