The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
