The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
