The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
