The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. 2 from God, the Lord of the Stairways. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 Whereas We see it impending. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 The mountains like the tufts of (carded) wool, 9 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 His wife and his brother, 12 the kinsmen who gave him shelter, 13 And all those that are in the earth, (wishing) then (that) this might deliver him. 14 By no means! Surely it is a flaming fire 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], 17 and amass [wealth] and thereupon withhold [it from their fellow-men]. 18 ۞ Indeed, the human was created grudging and impatient. 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 If good comes to him he holds back his hand, 21 Not so, however, those who consciously turn towards God in prayer. 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 and those in whose wealth there is a known right 24 For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth, (and his means of living has been straitened); 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Save in regard to their spouses or those whom their right hands own; so verily they are not blameworthy 30 But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors - 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 and who stand firm whenever they bear witness; 33 And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship;- 34 These it is who in the gardens [of paradise] shall be honoured! 35
