The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a written book. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
