Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
