And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is one of the commands of my Lord, and you are not given aught of knowledge but a little. 85 And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us. 86 Unless your Lord have mercy. His blessings on you are great indeed. 87 Say: 'If men and jinn banded together to produce the like of this Koran, they would never produce its like, not though they backed one another.' 88 And certainly We have explained for men in this Quran every kind of similitude, but most men do not consent to aught but denying. 89 And they say: we shall by no means believe in thee until thou causest for us to gush forth from the earth a fountain. 90 "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly; 91 "Or you cause the heaven to fall upon us in pieces, as you have pretended, or you bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face; 92 or thou have a house [made] of gold, or thou ascend to heaven - but nay, we would not [even] believe in thy ascension unless thou bring down to us [from heaven] a writing which we [ourselves] could read! Say thou, [O Prophet:] "Limitless in His glory is my Sustainer! Am I, then, aught but a mortal man, an apostle?" 93
