Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
