۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
