The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
