۞ And relate to them the account of the two men to one We gave two gardens of grapes, and covered them with date-palms and kept farms between them. 32 each of the two gardens yielded its produce and failed naught in any wise; and We caused to gush amidst them a river. 33 And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men." 34 He went into his garden and wronging himself said, “I do not think that this will ever perish.” 35 And neither do I think that the Last Hour will ever come. But even if [it should come, and] I am brought before my Sustainer, I will surely find something even better than this as [my last] resort!" 36 His companion replied, in the course of their discussion, "Do you deny Him who created you from dust, from a small drop of fluid, then formed you into a man? 37 But as for me, He, Allah, is my Lord, and I do not associate anyone with my Lord. 38 When you entered your vineyard, why did you not say: 'Whatever Allah wills shall come to pass, for there is no power save with Allah!' If you find me less than yourself in wealth and children 39 Yet, my Lord may haply give me a garden better than yours, and He may send a thunder-bolt, from the skies and in the morning it will be a barren plain; 40 "Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it." 41 (Sure enough the rich person's) fruits were all destroyed and he began to wring his hands in grief for all that he had invested in his garden. He found his garden tumbled to its trellises and said, "Would that I had not considered anything equal to my Lord". 42 And he had no group to help him against Allah, nor was he capable of taking revenge. 43 The jurisdiction in this province belongs to God. His is the best reward, and His the best requital. 44
