And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
