The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 The Romans have been defeated. 2 in a nearby land. They will reverse their defeat with a victory 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise and He does not go back on His promise. But most people do not know. 6 They know only the visible worldly life; and are totally neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them in Truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny that they will meet their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of God, and they derided them. 10
