But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 And most surely they turn them away from the path, and they think that they are guided aright: 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 Because of the harm you did, it would be of no benefit to you today, you are partners in the punishment. 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
