Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Quran) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah). 9 Woe to the liars 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
