The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
