The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
