Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
