The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
